The Woodlands (The Woodlands Township) is a census-designated place (CDP) located within Montgomery and Harris counties in Texas; within the Houston metro area. The Woodlands is located approximately 25 miles north of downtown Houston off Interstate 45. Founded in 1974, The Woodlands continues to grow residentially with families representing 78.2% of the population; and commercially with Anadarko, Chevron Phillips, Maersk Line, and Woodforest National Bank calling the township “home”.
